About The Event
Lake Okeechobee is the heart of the Central Everglades - the historical gatekeeper between the watershed from the north and the Southern Everglades and Florida Bay to its south. You are invited to a special webinar presentation by Audubon Florida's Dr. Paul Gray that will dive into the past, present, and future of this critical system and its connection to the greater Everglades ecosystem on Friday, April 17 from 4-5 p.m. REGISTER HERE -- Hosted by Audubon Florida
Famous for its abundance of bird life, the Everglades has faced many challenges. From the murder of Audubon Warden Guy Bradley by plume hunters as he fought to protect some of the Everglades’ iconic species, to the nearly devastating changes from the 20th Century efforts to ditch, dike, and drain the watershed for development and agriculture, Audubon has led an unprecedented ecological intervention. We hope you can join the presentation! P.S. You will have the opportunity to submit questions during the webinar, but if you already have some questions in mind, send them to FLConservation@audubon.org and we’ll do our best to address them in the recap!
